Description:

Procurify is seeking a Staff Database Engineer to join their Architecture team, focusing on scaling the company's engineering efforts.
The role involves designing and delivering data layers for critical services and acting as a thought leader in database design.
Responsibilities include planning for future scaling of MySQL and Postgres databases, coaching software engineers on data modeling and optimization, and providing tools for improving database query performance.
The engineer will assess transactional data consistency, implement internal process improvements, and collaborate with backend and frontend teams to align database architecture with high-level design principles.
Participation in annual hackathons and working with cloud-native architecture (RDS, EKS, Terraform) is expected.
The engineer will also advise leadership on technical considerations regarding data layer technologies.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 6-8+ years of software engineering experience, with a significant focus on database engineering.
Expert-level experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL is required.
Strong experience with AWS databases, particularly RDS Aurora, is necessary.
Candidates must have expert-level skills in performance tuning databases.
Experience in collaborating with stakeholders and setting clear expectations is essential.
The ideal candidate should be autonomous, self-motivated, and maintain a "work out loud" attitude.
A history of focusing on security at scale in project design and implementation is required.
Strong Python programming experience is needed, with familiarity in Django being a bonus.
A proven track record of building and maintaining business-critical web applications at scale is essential.
Candidates should have experience in coaching technical leadership within an engineering team.
Familiarity with agile and software development practices such as scrum/kanban, CI/CD, test automation, and infrastructure as code is required.

The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $200,000, depending on experience, excluding bonuses, commissions, benefits, or equity.
