Remote Database Back End Engineer

Description:

• Centric Market Intelligence™ is seeking a Database Back End Engineer to join their team in Madrid, Spain.
• The company specializes in AI-driven competitive assortment benchmarking and market trend insights for fashion, beauty, and home goods brands and retailers.
• The role involves developing processes and tools to manage a massive amount of data from over 1,000 retailers and 600,000 brands, tracking hundreds of millions of products.
• The Backend Team works with PostgreSQL databases, Python coding, AWS cloud infrastructure, Terraform, Ansible, and observability tools like Grafana, Timestream, and Telegraf.
• Responsibilities include maintaining and designing scalable stateful systems, building data pipelines, supporting databases for critical applications, performance analysis, automation, and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on leading database initiatives in large-scale environments.
• Degree in software engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in English communication.
• Strong Python skills.
• Understanding of OLTP and OLAP systems, advanced SQL, cloud-native database systems on AWS, and engineering trade-offs analysis.
• Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, Spark, Linux shell scripting, and AWS services (RDS, EC2, ECS, EMR).
• Familiarity with Docker, Celery, Django, RabbitMQ, SQS, Exasol, Grafana, Influxdb, Timestream, Citus (PostgreSQL).
