Description:
The Database Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the implementation of Nextech's next generation Data Platform.
This role will interact with all software products at Nextech and serve as a liaison between the Healthcare Platform and the Data Platform, supporting reporting, BI/Analytics, and AI initiatives.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring highly scalable processes to ingest and process high volume data change sets while ensuring high performance and quality.
The engineer will collaborate with various teams to translate reporting and analytics requirements into a data fulfillment strategy, including building data pipelines, data aggregations, and infrastructure to support business initiatives.
The role involves overseeing the design and maintenance of data pipelines and contributing to the continual enhancement of the data platform architecture.
The engineer will work with development teams and product stakeholders to explore new capabilities and technologies to drive innovation.
Collaboration with the team to meet performance, scalability, and reliability goals is essential.
Writing tests and documentation for processes and tooling is required.
The engineer will support data transformation testing and production implementation as needed.
Participation in development team sprint planning and stand-up events is expected.
Providing routine guidance to software development teams for best practices is part of the role.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5+ years of industry experience as a Data Engineer is required.
Experience in Microsoft technologies and Azure cloud services, including Azure SQL, Azure DataBricks or Spark on Azure, Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Lake Storage or One Lake, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric is necessary.
Experience with data warehousing, operational data stores, large-scale implementations, and ETL/ELT/data streaming processing is required, with Azure Data Factory preferred.
Familiarity with GitHub and CI/CD practices such as Azure DevOps is essential.
A strong working knowledge of data security practices is required.
A solid foundation in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, data modeling, data pipeline processes, data integration patterns, and software design is necessary.
Proficiency in Python scripting related to data analysis is required.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is necessary.
