Remote Database Reliability Engineer - Colombia

Description:

• Achievers is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to maintain the infrastructure supporting the Achievers Platform.
• The DBRE will manage, support, and scale MySQL and PostgreSQL clusters in GCP.
• Responsibilities include managing MySQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) database clusters to ensure optimal performance.
• The role involves continuous performance tuning and optimization, aiding development teams in optimizing complex queries, and automating everyday DBA tasks.
• The engineer will identify, define, and drive changes to existing processes to increase reliability and script tools for internal use to support continuous delivery of database updates.
• The position requires proactive seeking of opportunities to implement improvements for the database infrastructure and working on infrastructure design for cloud database services in a microservices architecture.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience managing MySQL in a high traffic SaaS environment.
• Experience with recent MySQL versions (5.7, 8) is required.
• Solid Linux experience is necessary, along with some experience with other database engines such as PostgreSQL and Clickhouse.
• Knowledge of MongoDB or any NoSQL database is essential.
• Experience working in cloud services (GCP, AWS) is required.
• A strong understanding of MySQL replication technologies (e.g., Tungsten, Galera, Group Replication) is needed.
• Candidates should have strong experience in MySQL sharding and partitioning.
• 3+ years of experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby) is required.
• 3+ years of experience working with a LAMP stack is necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Knowledge in data warehousing and enterprise IT concepts is required.
