Description:

  • Databento is seeking a Developer Advocate and community builder who is passionate about coding and financial markets.
  • The role involves creating technical content, such as implementations of market data using Python, C++, and/or Rust, to enhance community engagement across various platforms including Slack, Reddit, Hacker News, and LinkedIn.
  • Responsibilities include scaling and nurturing the user community of quant traders and developers, becoming a trusted resource and thought leader in the market data industry.
  • The Developer Advocate will identify new marketing, lead generation, and speaking opportunities to attract potential users and evangelists.
  • Managing and maintaining a newsletter for current and prospective users is also a key responsibility.
  • The role requires collaboration with engineering and product teams to create technical content and improve SEO.
  • Monitoring and reporting on feedback, reviews, or feature requests is essential.
  • The Developer Advocate will work with the engineering team to respond to customer queries, feedback, and reported bugs in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration with the product team to enhance community awareness of product features is also part of the job.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, applied math, finance, marketing, communications, business, management, journalism, writing, or any field with an emphasis on writing or social skills is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this position.
  • Experience with financial market data in Python, C++, and/or Rust is necessary.
  • Previous involvement with the quant trading and/or market data industry is desired.
  • A solid understanding and usage of market data is preferred.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is beneficial.
  • Experience in organizing or launching community initiatives, such as online forums, events, or newsletters, is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with social media management, SEO, and/or online marketing channels is advantageous.
  • A passion for teaching or communicating ideas to people with varying levels of familiarity on a given topic is highly valued.
