Description:
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for architecting, maintaining, and securing application deployment, configuration management, and system/application monitoring in a complex environment.
This role involves working with Systems and Development teams to architect efficient and redundant systems, automate workflows, enhance system reliability, and ensure a scalable and secure environment.
Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining a full suite of local and cloud-based services alongside the systems team.
The engineer will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated and efficient deployment processes.
They will architect and maintain a deployment standard for the development team and provide an automated deployment process environment to support rapid development and deployment.
The role requires developing custom application and system monitoring and knowledge of monitoring systems (e.g., WhatsUp Gold).
Responsibilities also include monitoring, maintaining, designing, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure for performance, scalability, and security.
The engineer will assist in troubleshooting server, systems, and application issues and work with the QA Development team to design automated testing of applications within the deployment process.
Automating repetitive tasks such as system provisioning, application deployment, and monitoring is essential.
The engineer will create, oversee, and test deployment security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery).
Maintaining complete technical application deployment and system configuration documentation is required.
The role involves suggesting improvements to applications and systems to support monitoring and performing other duties as required.
Requirements:
A BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar software engineering role.
Proficiency with deployment and CI tools is necessary.
A working knowledge of databases and SQL is required.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure) and associated services is essential.
Candidates must have strong knowledge of non-cloud-based platforms and servers (e.g., Windows server, Ubuntu Linux).
A strong understanding of networking, security, and system administration is required.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and container orchestration is necessary.
Experience in MS and Linux-based development languages (e.g., C#, .net, PowerShell, SQL, JavaScript) is required.
Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby) is necessary.
Experience with version control tools such as Git is required.
Expertise in infrastructure automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools is essential.
Experience with enterprise-level monitoring tools for measuring application and system performance is required.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are necessary.
The ability to work independently as well as with a team is required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Strong computer proficiency and understanding of basic office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), is necessary.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
