Remote DevOps Engineer

Description:

• Backstage is looking for a DevOps Engineer to monitor, maintain, and enhance the infrastructure, processes, and tooling of the company.
• The role involves collaborating with the software engineering team to ensure site reliability and performance.
• Responsibilities include working with the security team to implement best practices, managing AWS infrastructure for high availability and scalability, optimizing Linux systems, and administering MySQL databases and Elasticsearch clusters.
• The DevOps Engineer will utilize Cloudflare Enterprise tools for security and performance enhancements, implement monitoring solutions using NewRelic, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for streamlined deployment processes.
• Identifying and resolving infrastructure issues, as well as continuously evaluating and implementing new tools and technologies for process improvement, are key aspects of the role.
• The position reports to Backstage’s VP of Engineering and involves working with a Python/Django back end and a React/Typescript front end.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer and at least 8+ years in software development.
• Expertise in AWS administration and best practices.
• Strong proficiency in Linux systems administration.
• Experience managing Cloudflare Enterprise tools.
• Solid knowledge and experience with MySQL and Elasticsearch administration.
• Proficiency in using NewRelic or similar tools for monitoring and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and collaboration abilities.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

• Compensation range for the position is $150,000—$180,000 USD.
