Description:
The Private Cloud (PVC) Software Engineering Automation Software Operations (ASOPS) team in the Rackspace Technology organization is seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for performing DevOps activities on cutting-edge applications that deliver innovative outcomes to customers.
You will monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and continuously improve building, packaging, and deployment processes.
The role involves leveraging modern cloud-native components to build solutions that are operationally robust and impressively scalable.
You will support medium to high complexity application and system issues impacting customers and internal teams as needed.
The position requires working in conjunction with multiple teams to ensure that Rackspace infrastructure and customer applications work harmoniously together.
You will analyze logs and metrics to troubleshoot issues and improve system reliability.
Close collaboration with development teams is necessary to maintain high availability of applications.
You will coordinate, communicate, guide, and mentor the team in DevOps activities.
Documenting processes, configurations, and best practices for operational efficiency is a key responsibility.
Investigating new technologies, tools, and processes and making appropriate recommendations for adoption is expected.
Collaboration with other teams on tools for systems automation is also part of the role.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of applied experience as a DevOps Engineer is required.
Hands-on experience with software deployment activities and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
High proficiency in CI/CD tools and practices, including automating build, test, and deployment processes, is necessary.
Knowledge of Jenkins and GitHub Actions is a plus.
Experience in setting up and managing monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana is required.
Experience supporting Windows and Linux-based infrastructure, specifically Redhat/CentOS, is needed.
Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is important.
Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, and Puppet is required.
Experience working with Terraform is necessary.
A good understanding of version control systems, particularly Git, is essential.
Knowledge of databases for installation, configuration, and troubleshooting applications is required.
A strong understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancers, security, and system administration is necessary.
Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and OpenStack technologies is required.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell is essential.
Strong experience in application troubleshooting and support is necessary.
Strong verbal and written English skills are required to update support and operational documentation as needed.
The ability to quickly adapt to projects that require taking initiative and developing new expertise is essential.
The ability to mentor and work effectively in a globally distributed team of engineers is required.
Adaptability to a dynamic environment that includes changing needs and requirements is necessary.
