Description:
The position is for a DevOps Engineer at Moodle, the world's most popular learning platform, aimed at empowering educators.
The role involves supporting, maintaining, and improving Moodle’s Academy and Community sites.
Responsibilities include ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of community platforms, leading infrastructure improvements, and contributing to Moodle development efforts.
The job is fully flexible, allowing candidates to work from anywhere in Europe.
Daily tasks typically include maintaining and enhancing Moodle Community sites for reliability and performance, upgrading sites to every Moodle minor and major release, implementing improvements to the community sites' front and backend, testing and developing custom features, and debugging reported problems.
Requirements:
Candidates should have strong knowledge of Moodle development.
Proficiency in PHP programming, SQL, database management, and Linux scripting is required.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, and Python is necessary.
Extensive experience in troubleshooting network, system, and application issues is essential.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration is required.
Experience in utilizing and administering code repositories such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab is necessary.
Candidates should have experience working in a large-scale development environment using hosted AWS infrastructure.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with a collaborative/team approach to execution, are required.
A collaborative and team-focused attitude, with a genuine passion for helping Moodle advance its mission, is essential.
Desirable but not essential: experience with MediaWiki cloning and upgrading, and experience working in a remote, agile environment.
