Description:
Xero is seeking a Security Engineer to join their Cyber Security Engineering Function in the Edge Security pod, based in New Zealand.
The role focuses on protecting the Edge and requires a few years of experience in Security or Network engineering roles.
The Edge team is responsible for designing, maintaining, and servicing tools and infrastructure that defend against threats to Xero's network.
The Security Engineer will ensure network edge security systems are deployed and maintained to support Xero teams.
This position involves solving problems at scale in a massive AWS environment.
The role is hands-on and technical, bridging technical solutions with strategic goals.
Responsibilities include developing software and automation, keeping documentation up-to-date, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
The ideal candidate should be approachable, professional, and possess a solid understanding of DevOps and Agile practices.
Collaboration with other Xero Security and Product teams is essential to resolve escalated incidents and problems quickly.
Requirements:
Candidates must have relevant engineering experience building and deploying solutions in a production environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The ability to ensure Xero’s solutions are deployed and managed in a repeatable, reliable manner is required.
Deployment experience should include improving current processes and a strong understanding of Continuous Integration/Delivery.
Candidates must be able to develop software and automation as agreed with the team.
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, Python, NGINX, automation tools like Terraform, Check Point Firewall Solutions, network security principles, CDNs, JSON, YAML, AWS Cloudformation templates, WAF technologies, and networking/system administration fundamentals is beneficial.
A passion for delivering top-notch products and a willingness to learn and work with the tech stack is essential.
