Description:
The ETL Data Engineer will be part of a team supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by disseminating data to researchers focused on improving care quality and reducing costs for chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries.
The role involves supporting data warehouse architecture development across various solutions, such as Snowflake.
Responsibilities include providing rotation-based production support for ETL batch loads, including off-hours and weekends.
The engineer will analyze and resolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Conducting investigations and tests of considerable complexity is also part of the job.
The position requires maintaining data documentation on processes and procedures.
The engineer will track multiple data feeds, business rules, and statuses to ensure management receives accurate data and information.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in data engineering are required.
Experience with one or more ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Microsoft SSIS, Talend, Pentaho, or Apache NiFi is necessary.
A strong understanding of relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and knowledge of SQL is essential.
Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra is preferred.
Familiarity with data warehousing architectures (Kimball and Inmon) and technologies like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Snowflake is desired.
Excellent knowledge of scripting and programming languages for data manipulation and transformation is required.
Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary for collaborating with team members and stakeholders, documenting ETL processes, and explaining technical details clearly.
Precision in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data is crucial.
