Description:

  • Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Firmware Engineer III to contribute to the development of new and modified EEG device software systems that meet application, business, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • The role involves working in the Device team, reporting to the VP of Device Systems, and collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers.
  • Responsibilities include design, development, testing, and documentation of device software to ensure the highest quality and reliability.
  • The engineer will collaborate with Design, Research, Manufacturing, and Quality colleagues to develop software and troubleshoot design issues.
  • Design iterations will be incorporated during development to enhance product quality and reliability, ensuring the best user experience.
  • At the end of the design cycle, the engineer will perform testing to verify that the product meets its intended design requirements.
  • Documentation of design must comply with applicable product development processes, Quality, and Regulatory requirements.
  • The position offers a robust remote work experience, with optional in-person office hubs in Boston, New York, and Paris.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 5+ years of work experience with a BS degree or 3+ years with an MS degree, specifically in developing real-time embedded firmware in C.
  • The ability to read and follow electrical schematics is essential.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems architecture and real-time operating systems (RTOS) is required.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Git, JIRA, Confluence, and platforms like GitHub is necessary.
  • Candidates should be proficient in scripting languages, particularly Python.
  • Knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical device development is preferred.
