Description:
EQL Edtech is hiring a Founding Sales Lead for a rapidly growing, UC Berkeley-backed AI EdTech startup focused on transforming how teachers grade.
The position is remote, with a preference for candidates in Florida, Texas, California, or New York City.
This is a full-time role with a base salary of $60k, uncapped commission, and early equity opportunities.
The Founding Sales Lead will work directly with the CEO to own and scale the sales function.
Responsibilities include owning the full K-12 SaaS sales cycle from lead to close, converting teacher champions into school- and district-wide rollouts, and building and testing sales strategies.
The role also involves generating and qualifying admin leads from schools using the free product, creating marketing/sales assets, managing CRM, and exceeding revenue goals.
Additional tasks include supporting renewals, upsells, onboarding, training, and gathering customer feedback to inform product development.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 2β6+ years of successful experience selling EdTech to US K12 curriculum leaders.
A proactive and scrappy approach is essential, as well as the ability to thrive in ambiguity.
The ideal candidate should be organized, process-driven, and motivated by impact.
Clear and effective communication skills with educators and administrators are required.
A strong interest in the potential of AI to transform education is necessary, along with being a GenAI power user or eager to become one.
Bonus points for candidates with deep experience selling into Florida, Texas, California, or NYC, a background as a former teacher or school/district admin, or experience at companies like Nearpod, Newsela, NoRedInk, Writable, etc.
