Remote Founding Software Engineer (Data/Processing)

Description:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure backend services handling high volumes of data and transactions.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines for efficient processing and movement of large datasets, ensuring data integrity and low-latency access.
• Create and manage distributed processing systems for parallel computation and data processing at scale.
• Implement best practices for data storage, encryption, and access control to ensure data integrity and privacy.
• Collaborate on designing and implementing RESTful APIs that integrate seamlessly with the frontend.
• Continuously monitor and optimize system performance to improve speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Define and enforce best practices for coding, testing, and deployment across the engineering team.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead technical discussions, and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of backend development experience, focusing on data pipelines and distributed processing.
• Proficiency in backend languages and frameworks like Python, Java, Go, or Node.js, and experience with microservices.
• Expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines using tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, or AWS Glue.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems for parallel data processing, with knowledge of tools like Hadoop, Spark, or Flink.
• Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB) for scalable database architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong grasp of data security and privacy best practices, including encryption and secure data access methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to design efficient and scalable solutions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment and ability to pivot and adapt as needed.
