Description:

• The Motley Fool is seeking a Freelance Analytical Data Engineer with a strong focus on data warehousing for an independent contract position.
• This role is 100% remote but candidates must reside in the United States.
• The position requires 4-5+ years of relevant experience and is expected to last at least 12 months, with a commitment of 40 hours per week.
• The Data Engineering team creates data pipelines to manage data from various sources and collaborates with stakeholders to build data structures for reporting and insights.
• Responsibilities include expanding and optimizing data architecture, collecting and integrating raw data, transforming it into structured datasets, and ensuring data integrity across processes.
• The role involves building data warehouses and pipelines in Snowflake, querying large datasets using SQL, debugging data issues, and developing serverless workflows with Airflow.
• The engineer will monitor cloud systems for performance and security, document processes, assist in training data consumers, and stay updated on tech trends.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have enterprise-level data warehousing experience, specifically with Snowflake.
• Proficiency in SQL, including multi-table joins and indexing strategies, is required.
• Experience in data debugging and developing with Python for data ingestion and manipulation is necessary.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, and DynamoDB is essential.
• Experience in developing and deploying data pipelines using Airflow is required.
• Candidates should have experience with Snowflake's storage integrations, data shares, and Snowpark API.
• The ability to work independently and communicate issues effectively to management is crucial.
• Strong teamwork skills and a desire to learn new technologies are important.
• Experience with complex data sets is required.
