Remote Freelance PHP/WordPress Developer

Description:

• The Motley Fool is seeking a talented Freelance PHP Developer to work on an independent contract basis for 40 hours per week.
• The contract is anticipated to last between 6 to 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
• The role involves contributing to a large PHP 8 codebase that leverages and extends WordPress Multisite as a CMS.
• The developer will work with TypeScript, React, and other front-end technologies, although the primary focus will be on PHP and WordPress.
• Responsibilities include writing clean and efficient code, collaborating with stakeholders, and guiding the development process from scope determination to production.
• The developer will provide feedback on code via GitHub pull requests and keep abreast of new technologies to suggest improvements.
• The team is dedicated to helping people in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom invest better through their websites.

Requirements:

• A proven track record in a senior development role with a focus on PHP, WordPress, and various JavaScript frameworks (Vanilla, jQuery, TypeScript, React, Vue.js) is required.
• Strong understanding of extending WordPress via its pub/sub model, as well as OOP principles and design patterns in PHP.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services into WordPress is essential.
• Strong written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration.
• Experience with git and GitHub flows is required.
• Knowledge of unit testing and integration testing methodologies is important.
• Familiarity with composer and managing PHP dependencies is needed.
• An understanding of web security vulnerabilities and experience implementing security measures is required.
• Experience with AWS, particularly Lambda and SQS, is necessary.
• Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues are essential.
