Remote Front-end and Data Visualization Engineer

Description:

• Global Fishing Watch (GFW) is seeking a Front-end and Data Visualization Engineer to join their team remotely.
• The engineer will work on developing and maintaining front-end products to visualize GFW datasets using the latest standards and best practices.
• Responsibilities include building interactive maps, graphs, reports, and tools for users to display and analyze datasets.
• The role involves collaborating with the research and tech team, product managers, data scientists, QA, and other stakeholders.
• The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects, including interactive articles, internal tools for satellite data, and experimental mapping work.
• The position requires strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work autonomously.
• The candidate should be proficient in React, Redux, web platform standards, and have experience with DeckGL and API consumption.
• Preferred skills include knowledge of GPU programming, WebGL, data visualization libraries, and CI/CD environments.
• The role involves working in a small but fast-growing team, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines.

Requirements:

• Substantial experience with React (or similar UI framework) and Redux (or similar app state management libraries).
• Solid understanding of the modern web platform, cross-device, and cross-browser development.
• Ability to interpret and implement designs, conduct testing, and work with Git.
• Experience with DeckGL, consuming APIs securely, and collaborating in open-source projects.
• Strong communication skills, proactive mindset, and ability to adapt to changing requirements.
• Proficiency in English, ability to work remotely, and manage multiple projects effectively.
