Description:

The Frontend Engineer will drive the development and maintenance of the infrastructure that powers all MUI products.
This position is remote, with a preference for candidates in the UTC-6 to UTC+5 time zones.
The role is full-time and can be either a contractor or employee, depending on circumstances.
The company operates mostly asynchronously, allowing for flexible work hours.
MUI is known for its flagship product, Material UI, and has a growing ecosystem of React UI products.
The engineer will be responsible for keeping technical debt in check, finding consensus among teams, solving complex problems, owning infrastructure tasks, and developing new features.
Key tasks include responding to outages, stabilizing test infrastructure, optimizing build tools, enhancing documentation performance, and migrating the docs platform to Next.js App Router.

Requirements:

Candidates must have expertise in the modern JavaScript ecosystem, including ECMAScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, webpack, and Babel.
A track record of demonstrating an eye for product and solving real-world user problems is essential.
Experience in building and shipping production code in a team setting, with a passion for writing tested, performant, and high-quality code, is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interfacing with team members and contributing to user documentation.
The ability to dive into complex problems and quickly assess and iterate upon aspects of the codebase is crucial.
Candidates should be ready and willing to ask and answer questions, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Experience with infrastructure-related work, such as setting up CI or writing custom plugins, is required.
Avoiding monolithic deliverables and scoping work into well-defined milestones is important.
