Description:

  • Union is seeking a talented Frontend Software Engineer to join their growing team in Seattle.
  • The role involves shaping the future of ML tooling by making significant contributions.
  • The ideal candidate will spend 70% of their time on front-end tasks and 20% on backend tasks.
  • Responsibilities include creating high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code and APIs using both backend and frontend technologies.
  • The engineer will influence the development of user-centric features for data scientists and engineers.
  • Participation in architectural decisions and code/design reviews is expected to ensure high standards of quality and performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • The candidate should enjoy working as part of a team and tackling large, ambiguous problems independently.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience as a generalist, with a focus on frontend and some backend exposure.
  • Prior experience working in a startup or as part of a small team is essential.
  • The candidate should thrive in new or existing projects and make significant contributions.
  • Proficiency in React and its core principles is required.
  • Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript is necessary.
  • Familiarity with backend technologies such as Python, Go, or Java is expected.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Pytorch, Spark) is highly desired.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required.
