Description:

540 is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to assist USCIS in building applications using modern open source technologies hosted on AWS.
The role involves working in a fast-paced environment providing user-centered design, development, security and operations services, and data science for USCIS Information Technology Biometrics and Scheduling Systems Delivery.
Daily responsibilities include working on a full-lifecycle DevOps team, estimating, designing, developing, and testing optimized features for deployment.
The engineer will collaborate with peers to identify areas for improvement and optimize systems to enhance partner integration, system stability, security, and data integrity.
The mission is to modernize the immigration experience for USCIS benefits seekers, directly impacting the immigration experience for all applicants.
The position is remote within the continental United States, with East Coast working hours and some flexibility.
Candidates must be US Citizens and able to obtain a DHS Public Trust clearance.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this position.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 6+ years of software development experience.
Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is required.
Candidates should be well-versed in JavaScript / TypeScript.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular is necessary.
Candidates must have experience deploying production enterprise applications in AWS.
Familiarity with Kubernetes is required.
Experience with Apache Kafka is necessary.
Candidates should have database experience, specifically with SQL and Oracle.
Experience with automation and engineering tasks, implementation, data, infrastructure/operations, and security engineering tasks is required.
Agile Delivery experience and a Computer Science-related degree are nice to have.
Experience working with the government, particularly with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is also a plus.
