The Application Engineering team at Arbol focuses on providing web-based applications for customers to access parametric-based climate insurance.
The Software Engineer will join the application engineering team to design, build, and maintain online insurance applications and an internal web-based operations platform.
Responsibilities include collaborating with the team to gather requirements, developing scalable web applications, implementing front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (primarily React), and developing server-side logic using Node.js.
The role also involves writing clean, maintainable code in TypeScript, building responsive user interfaces, designing GraphQL APIs, participating in code reviews, conducting testing and debugging, and staying current with emerging technologies.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience and proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with a solid understanding of web standards and best practices.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience with server-side development using Node.js and building APIs is required.
Proficiency in TypeScript and experience with modern web frameworks, particularly React, for developing dynamic user interfaces is necessary.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS), and experience deploying and managing applications on AWS servers is essential.
An understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and data structures is required.
Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies is necessary.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB is a plus.
Previous experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment is also desirable.
