Remote Full-Stack Software Engineer Senior I

Description:

• The Full-Stack Software Engineer Senior I role at Kooth is a remote position based in the UK, reporting to the Engineering Manager.
• This position involves contributing to the technical direction and execution of projects within a squad, significantly influencing Kooth’s product and business objectives.
• The role includes designing and building RESTful Node APIs, React frontends, and/or React Native mobile apps, while contributing to system design and architectural evolution.
• Senior Engineers are expected to lead by example in trunk-based development, automated testing, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Responsibilities include taking ownership of performance, resilience, observability, maintainability, security, and accessibility of systems.
• The engineer will build and operate a suite of Node.js backend services, React-based web apps, and React Native mobile experiences that support the mental health platform.
• The role requires end-to-end ownership of features, from idea through to production, with a strong sense of accountability and user impact.
• Continuous improvement of systems through thoughtful, pragmatic solutions to technical challenges is essential.
• Collaboration across disciplines and mentoring colleagues through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing is expected.
• The engineer will contribute to and occasionally lead technical discussions and decisions, staying current with industry best practices.
• Participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota and improving system reliability and incident response processes is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 3+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development in a product-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and either React or React Native is essential, along with experience in database technologies such as PostgreSQL.
• A deep enthusiasm for full-stack software engineering and strong problem-solving capabilities are required.
• A solid understanding of modern system architecture and the ability to contribute to its evolution is necessary.
• Commitment to quality, with experience in shipping maintainable, scalable, and well-tested code, is expected.
