Description:

  • Quorum is a fast-growing software company based in Washington, D.C., providing workflow software and information services for government affairs professionals.
  • The company serves over 2,000 customers globally, including over 50% of the Fortune 100, and has over 350 team members worldwide.
  • As a Backend Software Engineer within Quorum's Data development team, you will focus on developing and maintaining data scrapers and spiders to ensure efficient and reliable data collection.
  • You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to design and launch new product features.
  • In your first week, you will ship new code to production.
  • By the first month, you will write code across various levels of the stack, from infrastructure to API to UI.
  • Within six months, you will take ownership of a set of features and make impactful decisions for clients.
  • After one year, you will help guide the team in making broad technical decisions affecting the stack and products.

Requirements:

  • You must have 3+ years of work experience in a software company focused on end-user products.
  • Professional experience in JavaScript and front-end technologies like React is required.
  • You should have experience writing application code in backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
  • Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle is necessary.
  • You need to be familiar with SQL queries and Object Relational Mapping frameworks like Django.
  • A strong desire to mentor others through code review is essential.
  • You should care deeply about code quality and have the drive to solve real-world problems.
  • An interest in learning new development languages and platforms is expected.
  • You must be a highly-motivated self-starter eager to contribute from day one.
  • You should be an engaged learner, willing to tackle challenging problems.
  • A desire to work in a fun environment and contribute to team dynamics is important.
