The starting points for the technology are wildfire and wind, addressing the increased extreme wildfire conditions due to climate change.
The product enables accurate pricing of insurance, making it economically viable to offer coverage to homeowners and businesses.
Terrafuse has developed a groundbreaking wildfire risk model that accurately predicted the Los Angeles fires and continues to anticipate future fire events.
The role is for a part-time internship as an Environmental Engineer, Intern, focusing on environmental engineering, data analysis, and geographic information systems (GIS).
The intern will support critical projects by utilizing Python and ArcGIS to analyze and interpret environmental data.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience in software engineering, environmental engineering, data science, or a related field, with a focus on GIS and data analysis.
Proficiency in Python for data analysis, visualization, and modeling is required, with knowledge of other programming languages being a plus.
Strong knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS, including spatial analysis, data management, and mapping, is necessary.
Familiarity with validating catastrophe risk models and understanding their implications is expected.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities are required.
