Description:
The GIS Solutions Engineer will play a key role in geospatial infrastructure and drive meaningful change while growing skills and making a real-world impact with the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
This position involves working with Python to enhance systems that process geospatial data, utilizing tools like ArcPy and GDAL.
The engineer will contribute to maintaining systems with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated CI/CD pipelines.
Beyond backend development, there will be opportunities to create interactive user experiences using JavaScript, ensuring applications are intuitive and user-friendly.
The role includes overseeing testing and quality assurance, applying expertise in geospatial data systems to improve accuracy and performance.
This position is remote, full-time, and mid-level, with a salary of $72,000.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, along with 5+ years of experience.
Proven expertise in Python is necessary for this role.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience manipulating geospatial databases using Python libraries such as ArcPy and GDAL.
Experience with GitHub or GitLab and CI/CD pipelines is required.
Knowledge of AWS platforms is also necessary for this position.
