Description:

Canonical is looking for Golang engineers of all levels of seniority to work remotely from Africa, Lagos.
Golang is preferred for software development at Canonical due to its performance and security features.
The role involves designing and implementing well-tested software in Go, debugging and fixing user issues, participating in code reviews, collaborating with the community, seeking engineering improvements, and contributing to product success through technical advocacy.
Ideal candidates should have a strong academic background, a degree in Computer Science or STEM, exceptional drive, organization skills, and the ability to work well in a remote environment.
Experience with Linux, Golang, system-level Linux, and building distributed systems and APIs is required.
Additional skills such as developing for Ubuntu Linux, experience with specific Canonical offerings, performance engineering, and security experience are a plus.

Requirements:

Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or relevant alternative path.
Drive, ability to exceed expectations, well-organized, and able to deliver on schedule.
Professional manner in interactions, experience with Golang on Linux, and passion for Linux at the system level.
Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
Passion, thoughtfulness, self-motivation, communication skills, and result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
Ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks each.
