Description:
As an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer at GitLab, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all user-facing services and production systems.
You will design and implement scalable infrastructure to support current and future GitLab.com architecture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Infrastructure teams on projects to drive GitLab's future.
Participate in incident response on an on-call rotation and contribute to incident reviews.
Specialize in provisioning multiple isolated GitLab instances and supporting services in Cluster mode.
Automate operational tasks such as package updates, configuration changes, and provisioning of customer-facing services.
Work with backend engineers to prepare new distributed services for production readiness in multiple regions.
Develop expertise in the Kubernetes ecosystem, Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, configuration management tools, and building systems using Go or Ruby.
Demonstrate problem-solving skills, a drive for automation, and a proactive, self-organized mindset.
Communicate clearly asynchronously and be prepared for diverse daily tasks from project work to emergency response.
Requirements:
Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem, including Helm.
Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform, specifically networking, GKE configuration, and scaling.
Familiarity with Terraform infrastructure as code.
Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.
Ability to build systems using Go or Ruby.
Strong problem-solving skills and a drive for automation.
Capacity to work independently, take action, and communicate effectively.
Excitement for varied daily tasks and experience with distributed systems and SLIs/SLOs.
Previous experience with on-call responsibilities and responding to production incidents.
