Description:

Wealthsimple is seeking a Data Science Intern for Summer 2025, offering a remote-first internship experience.
The internship lasts for 4 months, from May to August 2025, and is open to co-op and non-co-op students, as well as recent graduates.
Interns will contribute to projects that aim to transform financial services for Canadians while receiving mentorship and support from their team.
The Data Science & Engineering team focuses on enabling data-driven decision-making and building data products.
Responsibilities include building a scalable data warehouse, leveraging machine learning for smarter financial products, and using decision science to analyze business decisions.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp, or be a new graduate within 6 months of graduation.
Applicants should be available to work full-time hours and reside in Canada.

Requirements:

Candidates must be driven to ship frequently and take ownership of their projects.
A willingness to tackle complex challenges and engage in self-directed learning is essential.
Applicants should value inclusivity, debate, and transparency in product development.
Familiarity with Python and SQL is required.
A basic understanding of statistics, including frequentist and Bayesian approaches, is necessary.
Candidates should have a fundamental understanding of machine-learning algorithms, such as regression and decision trees.
Experience with Python libraries like Pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, and Jupyter is expected.
Excellent communication skills are a must.
