Wealthsimple is seeking an Intern for Data Science for Winter 2025, offering a remote position.
The company aims to help everyone achieve financial freedom by simplifying financial services.
Internships last between 4 to 8 months and are available to co-op and non-co-op students, as well as recent graduates.
Interns will contribute to projects that are transforming financial services for Canadians and will receive mentorship and support for their growth.
The Data Science & Engineering team is responsible for data-driven decision-making and building data products.
Responsibilities include building a scalable data warehouse, leveraging machine learning, and using decision science to analyze business decisions.
The application deadline is September 18 at 5 PM EST, with interviews scheduled for the week of September 23rd.

Requirements:

Candidates should be driven to ship frequently and take ownership of their projects.
Applicants must enjoy tackling complex challenges and be comfortable with self-directed learning.
A belief in the value of debate, inclusivity, and transparency in product development is essential.
Familiarity with Python and SQL is required.
A basic understanding of statistics, including frequentist and Bayesian approaches, is necessary.
Candidates should have a fundamental understanding of machine-learning algorithms, such as regression and decision trees.
Experience with Python libraries like Pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, and Jupyter is expected.
Excellent communication skills are a must.
