Description:
The IoT Network Engineer (The Connected Systems Architect) will design, deploy, and maintain IoT communication networks that are secure, scalable, and high-performing.
This role involves working closely with IoT developers, security experts, and hardware teams to ensure the smooth operation of connected devices.
Responsibilities include architecting and deploying IoT communication networks that connect sensors, devices, and gateways across various environments.
The engineer will analyze and optimize network performance to ensure efficient data transmission between devices and back-end systems.
The position requires managing wireless and cloud connectivity, ensuring seamless integration between IoT devices and cloud platforms using various wireless communication technologies.
The engineer will implement robust security measures to protect IoT networks from vulnerabilities and cyberattacks.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to design, test, and deploy network solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
Troubleshooting and resolving network issues to maintain uninterrupted device connectivity is a key responsibility.
The engineer must ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or NIST.
Requirements:
Strong experience in designing and managing IoT networks, including wireless technologies like LoRa, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE/5G, and network protocols like MQTT, CoAP, and HTTP.
Expertise in securing IoT networks, including encryption, VPNs, firewalls, and authentication protocols.
Experience integrating IoT networks with cloud and edge platforms for real-time data flow and secure communication.
Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting network performance issues, optimizing for latency, bandwidth, and reliability in large-scale IoT deployments.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and cloud architects.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified IoT Network Professional (CIoTP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering, with hands-on experience managing IoT networks in real-world environments.
Proven experience with IoT communication protocols and network security.
Experience with cloud IoT platforms and integrating them with IoT networks is required.
