Remote Java Desktop Developer

Description:

• Porch Group is seeking a Java Desktop Developer to join their team remotely in India.
• The role involves developing and maintaining Java-based desktop applications using Swing and JavaFX.
• Responsibilities include designing and implementing web interfaces using Java technologies and developing server-side logic and business processes with Java, including MySQL database interactions.
• The developer will design basic MySQL schemas and connect third-party client APIs.
• The position requires designing and implementing desktop UI components that function across various screen resolutions and operating systems (Mac and Windows).
• The developer will create and manage PDF and HTML5 outputs/files generated by the software using relevant packages and libraries.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to desktop and web application functionality and performance is also part of the job.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions is essential.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a strong background with 5+ years of experience in Java desktop development, particularly with Swing and JavaFX.
• Proficiency in core Java programming and object-oriented design principles is required.
• Experience in developing Java-based web interfaces and backend services is necessary.
• Hands-on experience with third-party API integration is expected.
• Candidates should have experience interacting with MySQL or other relational databases in a Java environment.
• A proven track record of generating and managing PDF and HTML5 reports within applications is required.
• Experience developing on both Mac and Windows platforms, with an understanding of varying screen resolutions, is essential.
• Expertise in desktop and web UI design and usability principles is necessary.
• Proven experience working with US-based business teams is required.
• Excellent written and communication skills in English are mandatory.
• Candidates must be able to work within core US business hours, with an overlap in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
