Description:
Join a high-impact team supporting the Wounded in Action (WIA) system within DFAS, where your expertise in Java development and system engineering will enhance critical defense financial operations.
As a Senior System Engineer for the WIA system, you will lead the design, development, and integration of complex application solutions.
You will apply advanced Java development expertise to maintain, optimize, and enhance the system while ensuring compliance with DFAS and DoD security and software engineering standards.
This role involves conducting high-level system analysis, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring seamless system functionality through integration, testing, and validation (IV&V and DT&E).
You may serve as a Task Leader, responsible for managing specific project components, ensuring service quality, and aligning deliverables with DoD cyber workforce requirements per DoD Manual 8140.03.
Additionally, you will create technical documentation, reports, and presentations to support system enhancements and communicate key insights to leadership.
Requirements:
Proficiency in Java/JavaScript is required.
A strong background in Java development for enterprise applications, with expertise in STRUTS/STRUTS2 frameworks is necessary.
Knowledge of HTML/XHTML and XML for UI enhancements is essential.
Hands-on experience with Oracle Database, Oracle PL/SQL, and integration with enterprise applications is required.
Experience in WebLogic12 for application hosting and performance optimization is needed.
Familiarity with CMMI practices and the Agile development lifecycle for iterative software improvement is important.
The ability to apply technical and business principles to complex challenges, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies (DoD 8140.03) is required.
Strong analytical and leadership skills are necessary to lead development tasks, provide technical oversight, and ensure the successful execution of project milestones.
A strong ability to create system design documents, technical reports, and briefing materials to communicate findings and recommendations effectively is essential.
US Citizenship and IT-II Public Trust clearance are required.
