Description:
Ground News is seeking a Jr. Back-End Engineer to join their remote team in Canada.
The role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying new features for their products.
Responsibilities include fixing bugs, driving performance improvements, and collaborating with fellow developers and the Product team.
Daily stand-ups are part of the work routine.
The back-end technology stack includes Node.js with Express, TypeScript, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Redis, and Cloudfront.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 1-2 years of back-end development experience.
Proficiency in TypeScript and a strong understanding of async/await is required.
Experience with Node.js in a production environment is necessary.
A solid understanding of relational databases, ideally MySQL, is expected.
Familiarity with ElasticSearch and caching systems like Redis is preferred.
A proactive mindset with a passion for learning and growing as a developer is essential.
Critical thinking skills and the ability to write scalable, efficient code are required.
Bonus points for experience with Vue.js, familiarity with AWS services, working knowledge of Google APIs, background in UI/UX design, and experience with email development tools.
