Description:

  • BlaBlaCar is the world’s leading community-based travel app, enabling 27 million members a year to carpool or travel by bus in 21 countries.

  • The Junior Backend Engineer will join the Monetize squad, focusing on the payment user experience and carpool monetization features.
  • Responsibilities include participating in the design, development, and maintenance of Java microservices for monetization and payment orchestration.
  • The role involves engaging in the entire application lifecycle, from design to deployment, including monitoring and support.
  • The engineer will develop skills around critical elements of BlaBlaCar's infrastructure and collaborate with product and design teams to define features.
  • Interaction with diverse roles and sharing technical expertise with various experts is expected.

Requirements:

  • A first experience in Java and its frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito is required.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and the ability to determine when to apply specific architectural patterns is necessary.
  • Good communication skills, humility, and being a team player with a sense of humor are essential.
  • Some knowledge or prior experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog is a plus.
  • Full working proficiency in English is required.
