Description:

  • Sayari is a transparency company that provides visibility into complex commercial relationships through a large collection of corporate and trade data.

  • The Junior Data Engineer will work with the Product and Software Engineering teams to collect data globally, maintain existing data pipelines, and develop new pipelines for Sayari Graph.
  • Responsibilities include writing and deploying crawling scripts to collect source data from the web, standardizing bulk data sets using Scala Spark, and parsing entity references and relationships from source data using Python.
  • The role also involves diagnosing and fixing bugs, analyzing internal datasets, collaborating with a team of engineers using agile principles, and participating in code reviews.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have professional experience with Python and a JVM language such as Scala, Java, or Kotlin.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in designing and maintaining data pipelines is required.
  • Experience with Apache Spark and Apache Airflow is necessary.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases, including column stores and graph databases, is expected.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure is essential.
  • Candidates should have experience working collaboratively with Git and an understanding of Docker/Kubernetes.
  • An interest in learning from and mentoring team members is important.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment is required.
  • A passion for open source development and innovative technology is preferred.
  • Experience with BI tools like BigQuery and Superset, as well as an understanding of knowledge graphs, is a plus.
