Description:

The position is for a Junior Database Administrator at a well-known firm in the airline technology sector, specializing in innovative end-to-end software solutions.
The role offers the flexibility of working remotely or from the office in Chania, Greece.
The Junior Database Administrator will report to the Database Manager.
Responsibilities include monitoring, tuning, and performance optimization of the company’s Database Servers and DBaaS to ensure smooth and 24/7 operation of the infrastructure platform for clients.
Specific tasks include performing monitoring, tuning, management, capacity planning, and improvement of existing DSE & Apache Cassandra Clusters and MySQL & Azure SQL & Cosmos DB Servers.
The role also involves participating in the installation and configuration of new Clusters/Servers, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, connectivity, and security in Cloud/Server/Database environments.
Additionally, the Junior DBA will implement automation and functionality scripts using Python/BASH/PowerShell.

Requirements:

A BSc in Information Technology or a relevant field, or a combination of related education and work experience is required.
Basic knowledge of Relational Database Management Software, preferably MySQL, is necessary.
Candidates should have basic knowledge and administration skills in Linux systems, preferably Redhat & Centos.
A basic understanding of NoSQL databases, particularly CQL Cassandra Query Language and Cassandra Data Modeling, is required.
Basic knowledge of DSE & Apache Cassandra environments is expected.
Familiarity with the Python programming language and BASH scripting is necessary.
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential.
Any experience with Azure Cloud technologies, OO programming languages such as Java, and Perl or shell scripting will be considered an asset.
