Description:
The Junior Security Engineer’s role is to aid the security efforts of Bugcrowd while proactively making changes to improve the security posture.
The position requires a motivated team member who is willing to push their boundaries and step out of their comfort zones.
The Junior Security Engineer will be challenged regularly as they serve as the last line of defense for one of the largest crowdsourced security platforms.
This role includes receiving mentoring from multiple senior security professionals and working closely with them on a daily basis.
Essential duties include developing security automations, writing maintainable code, working on security architecture, assessing risks, performing penetration tests, and aiding in incident response.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience is required.
Candidates must have 2+ years of experience in a similar role or its equivalent.
Familiarity with Pentesting techniques and knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 is necessary.
Basic knowledge of Incident Response and threat intelligence is required.
Candidates should be able to understand vulnerabilities and work with developers to patch them.
Scripting knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript, or Ruby is essential.
Strong communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration across multiple teams.
Candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and able to operate from a calendar.
Some cloud experience, preferably with AWS, is required.
A basic understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) is necessary.
Candidates should be able to independently troubleshoot and solve problems.
Basic red team knowledge and familiarity with git and pull requests are required.
Familiarity with a ticketing system or issue tracking system, such as Jira, is a must.
