Description:

Join the Trust & Safety team at OfferUp as a Junior Software Development Engineer - Backend.
Contribute to building systems that detect and prevent fraudulent behavior in the marketplace.
Focus on maintaining community guidelines and supporting business strategies by addressing Account takeovers, Phishing, Payment chargebacks, and Prohibited Items.
Take ownership of features from concept to implementation, including writing well-architected and tested code and analyzing metrics.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams like risk analysts, data science, and operations.
Drive engineering and operational excellence within the Trust & Safety engineering team.
Develop scalable classifiers and tools using machine learning, data regression, and rules-based models.
Participate in on-call rotations and support and mentor other engineers on the team.

Requirements:

3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1 year dedicated to web services.
Ability to perform data analysis and translate results into business recommendations.
Strong coding skills in Java, Python, Scala, Golang, or another modern programming language, along with knowledge in object-oriented design and microservices architecture.
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
