Remote Junior Software Development Engineer - Frontend

Description:

• As a Junior Software Development Engineer on the Services team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying multiple features with high operational excellence.
• Your tasks will include designing, writing well-architected and thoroughly tested code, and analyzing metrics to roll out features.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional team members and assist in setting up good coding patterns.
• The OfferUp Services team focuses on three main products—Premium, PromotePlus, and Paywalls—catering to high-volume sellers and seasoned buyers.
• Prioritizing feature enhancement, performance optimization, and elevating conversion and retention rates are key objectives for the team.
• This role is available only outside the US and not to individuals based within the US or any US territory.
• You will work with front-end technologies such as NodeJS, React, and React Native to create and deliver new mobile and web experiences for OfferUp.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features, maintain code quality in existing applications, and create solutions that enhance team productivity.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience is required.
• Proficiency in Javascript or Typescript is necessary.
• Experience in developing mobile applications professionally is a must.
• Strong coding skills in Front-end focused Software Development (React Native, ReactJS, HTML, CSS) are essential.
• Familiarity with Apollo GraphQL, Data Structures, and Object Oriented Design is required.
• Knowledge of web optimization performance, design patterns, and cross-browser compatibility is necessary.
• An eagerness to learn, adapt to a fast-moving development environment, and excellent communication skills are vital.
• A BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
• Fluency in English is a must.
