Description:

The Junior Software Engineer will join the software development team to support content publishing.
The role involves working with both engineering and content developers to get content to the databases and environments for testing and production via CI/CD operations.
Responsibilities include providing data support within tight deadlines, developing, administering, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and supporting developers with query or DDL enhancements.
The engineer will communicate project/task status clearly and effectively with internal teams, management, development teams, and project managers.
The position requires developing and assisting with database queries for content releases to the platform, creating technical documentation, and sharing knowledge within and outside the team.
The engineer will identify bottlenecks in existing processes and take ownership of improving workflow, resolve technical issues, analyze root causes, and determine corrective and preventative actions.
Researching new tools to simplify and improve existing processes and working with developers to establish best practices are also key duties.
The role requires moving fast, having a bias towards action, and following the cycle of coding, iterating, testing, deploying, and optimizing websites.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 3+ years of database development experience.
A minimum of 3+ years of application developer and/or DevOps experience is required.
The ability to work well with people in different time zones and across cultures is essential.
Hands-on experience with MySQL table design, querying, indexing, and debugging is necessary.
Strong communication skills for both listening and responding in a timely manner are required.
Candidates should be strong logical thinkers, capable of identifying issues through sound logical derivations.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to methodically use a hypothesis-driven approach to solve various data issues are important.
Concise and clear written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Attention to detail is extremely important.
Experience working with GIT versioning and best security and development practices is required.
Experience in Node.js is preferred.
An understanding of microservice architecture based on 12-Factor application development practices is necessary.
Candidates should be self-starters, go-getters, and creative and practical problem solvers.

This is a full-time salaried position with flexible work hours.
The position is fully remote, allowing work from a home office in the Philippines.
