Description:
The Kubernetes Engineer will support Air Force Platform One and Air Mobility Command to maintain high uptime for their chat operations.
This position requires working outside of regular business hours due to the 24x7x365 readiness requirement.
The engineer will design, build, and run elastic, cost-effective, resilient, robust, and secure architectures in the cloud using modern approaches like service-mesh and loosely coupled design.
Responsibilities include managing different Kubernetes providers (Amazon EKS, Fargate, Azure KS, and Google KE) or running your own.
The engineer will design and implement network connectivity, provisioning strategies, and assess and design RBAC needs to ensure a strong cloud foundation with compliance requirements.
The role involves maintaining, configuring, and monitoring containers using Infrastructure as Code principles in Development, Test, and Live environments.
The engineer will design containerized solutions for relational/non-relational databases, data auditing, caching, and performance.
Collaboration with other architects on security, data protection, and failover strategies is required.
The engineer will implement Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment using various CI/CD tools and container registries.
Experience in technical customer service, customer management, and escalations may be required.
Requirements:
Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge in Kubernetes, Istio, GitOps, Custom Kubernetes Operators, Custom Helm charts, Custom Admission Controllers, and Custom CRDs.
Extensive knowledge of Linux and networking is required, along with experience in Kubernetes and containers.
Candidates should understand each component of the Kubernetes control plane and have security and compliance knowledge for Kubernetes.
Experience in building automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform is necessary.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI, etc.) and experience with common infrastructure tools like Docker, Terraform, and Helm is required.
Candidates should have a software development background and a CKA Certification.
The ability to create and maintain documentation for implementations is essential.
Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
