Description:

The role is for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to join an established team in Manchester, Greater Manchester.
The position involves taking the technical lead in complex data science projects and problems.
Responsibilities include supporting consulting engagements, which may involve pre-acquisition due diligence focused on AI and Data, or consulting projects related to building AI and Data-enabled solutions.
The Lead Data Scientist will guide project requirement scoping and provide technical guidance for the team, as well as hands-on support throughout the project lifecycle.
The role also includes supporting pre-sales activity within the sales and marketing teams.
The candidate must have strong technical ability and be able to guide a team of data scientists working on diverse projects for multiple clients using a broad range of data science skills, including machine learning, process automation, data management, computer vision, and predictive modeling.
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with clients in both verbal and written formats, offering support and technical expertise.

Requirements:

The candidate must have client-facing experience with the ability to translate data science approaches into non-technical language.
In-depth expert-level experience in the Data Science domain (data mining, statistics, machine learning, etc.) and AI domain (analytical and generative AI, model selection, training, ML Ops, data assets curation, model efficacy metrics, bias management, IP considerations, etc.) is required.
Experience with PaaS (Platform as a Service) and FaaS (Function as a Service) is necessary, along with an understanding of cloud networking principles.
The candidate should have engineering skills to interpret business challenges into code, utilizing existing libraries and adapting them to business/project requirements.
A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience in fields such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, or physical sciences with a strong understanding of data analytics is required.
A minimum of 7 years of work experience in a relevant business environment is necessary.
