Description:
Philo is seeking a Lead Android Software Engineer to join their team in San Francisco, CA or remotely within the U.S.
The Android team is responsible for building the product experience across four platforms: Android Mobile, Android TV, Amazon Fire Tablets, and Amazon FireTV.
The role involves leading technical direction for Android development, ensuring code quality, scalability, and performance.
Responsibilities include driving continuous improvements to the reliability, performance, and UI of the Android applications, managing tech debt, and advocating for necessary improvements.
The engineer will provide technical leadership, input on system architecture, and help manage application releases every two weeks.
The position requires monitoring app performance, triaging crashes, bugs, and performance regressions, and collaborating with internal stakeholders for smooth feature delivery.
The engineer will own best practices within the codebase and improve documentation as needed.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of software development experience.
Proficiency in Kotlin, Coroutines, and their surrounding ecosystem is required.
Experience in developing Android apps for TV platforms is necessary.
Familiarity with Jetpack Compose is essential.
Knowledge of MVVM, MVI, and/or Clean Architecture is required.
Experience using SQL-based tools for application monitoring and alerting is necessary.
Nice to have skills include experience with video playback and ExoPlayer, GraphQL-based APIs, TV Integration Framework, cross-device interoperability, and building multi-modal experiences.
