TherapyNotes is seeking a Lead Database Engineer who excels at mentoring and team collaboration.
The role involves inspiring and guiding a team of database professionals while cultivating a collaborative environment that values innovation and continuous improvement.
The Lead Database Engineer will own the sprint process and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and infrastructure, to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
Responsibilities include leading a team that designs, implements, and maintains high-availability, high throughput, data and compute intensive, critical database systems running PostgreSQL for a growing 24x7 SaaS platform.
The position requires participation in project planning and sprint ceremonies to deliver database solutions in an Agile environment, monitoring project activities, and addressing blockers to avoid delays.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
The Lead Database Engineer will partner with other technical leaders to ensure newly introduced systems are supportable and maintainable by both development and operations.
The role includes providing escalated technical guidance and support to other technology teams and on-call coverage for production support as required.
Compliance with HIPAA security policies within the database platform is mandatory.
The engineer will ensure all solutions and operational activities adhere to the organization's security and operating policies.
Automation of system maintenance tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible is required, along with managing infrastructure as code (IaC) by writing Ansible playbooks; exposure to Terraform is a plus.
Experience with writing and designing ETL pipelines using Python is a plus.
Understanding and maintaining various PostgreSQL ecosystem components like PgBouncer, PgBackrest, HaProxy, and RepMgr is a plus.
Requirements:
A BS degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
Candidates must have 10+ years of Engineering experience with Database Engineering, Systems Engineering, DevOps, and/or SRE.
A minimum of 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers specializing in database systems and SaaS platforms is preferred.
Experience in cloud-based compute, storage, and containerization solutions, particularly Azure and Kubernetes, is required.
Candidates should be experts in Agile methodology, DevOps, Scrum, ITSM, and/or ITIL principles.
Proficiency with operating PostgreSQL in a Linux environment is a plus.
