Description:

  • TherapyNotes is looking for a Lead Database Engineer to join their team of cloud-first technology enthusiasts.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PostgreSQL databases and a strong attention to detail.
  • The role requires a collaborative mindset to work within a DevOps culture across the technology organization.
  • Responsibilities include engineering, designing, implementing, and maintaining critical PostgreSQL database systems for a 24x7 SaaS platform.
  • The candidate should have experience leading an engineering team and be comfortable with systems administration in a Linux environment.
  • Strong scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code skills are necessary, including knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, and Powershell.
  • The Lead Database Engineer will provide leadership for data operations, security, management, and usage policies.
  • Participation in project planning and sprint ceremonies to deliver database solutions in an Agile environment is expected.
  • The role involves monitoring database project activities to ensure accuracy and quality of deliverables.
  • Mentoring and guiding database team members is a key responsibility.
  • Effective communication with team members, other teams, and stakeholders is essential.
  • The engineer will ensure database design and operations support business availability, scalability, and recoverability needs.
  • Proactive tuning and capacity management to meet performance needs is required.
  • Guidance on database development, design principles, query optimization, and index management will be provided to developers and engineers.
  • Support for development and testing, including test data setup and automated testing scenarios, is part of the role.
  • Compliance with HIPAA security policies within the database platform is mandatory.
  • The engineer will improve site reliability through detailed telemetry implementation.
  • Collaboration with other technical leaders to ensure new systems are supportable and maintainable is necessary.
  • Escalated technical guidance and support to other technology teams will be provided.
  • Adherence to security and operating policies established by the organization is required.
  • Opportunities for service delivery improvement and documentation development will be identified.
  • On-call coverage for production support and other duties as required is expected.

Requirements:

  • A BS degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
  • The candidate must have 10+ years of experience in Database Engineering, Systems Engineering, DevOps, and/or SRE.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers specializing in database systems and SaaS platforms is necessary.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience administering and engineering highly-available PostgreSQL databases is required.
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL database architecture, concepts, features, and high-availability technologies is essential.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for this role.
  • Proficiency in operating PostgreSQL in a Linux environment is required.
  • Experience with cloud-based compute, storage, and containerization solutions, preferably Azure and Docker, is needed.
  • The candidate should be an expert in Agile methodology, DevOps, Scrum, ITSM, and/or ITIL principles.
