Remote Lead DevOps Engineer

Description:

• Real is a fast-growing national real estate brokerage powered by technology, operating in all U.S. states, Canada, and the District of Columbia.
• The company was founded in 2014 and is a trailblazer in the Residential Real Estate industry, aiming to revolutionize the home-buying and selling process.
• The Lead DevOps Engineer will join the R&D team at REAL and will work closely with the consultant DevOps team to prioritize, schedule, and implement DevOps tasks.
• This role requires the candidate to be opinionated about the direction of DevOps practices and to take initiative for the long-term health of the infrastructure.
• Responsibilities include managing Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and performance monitoring tools like Datadog.
• The Lead DevOps Engineer will be the first hire in the dedicated DevOps team, playing a pivotal role in shaping its future direction and growth.
• The candidate will help lead the overall technical vision and strategy for all things DevOps and will educate other team members in DevOps methodology, design, and best practices.

Requirements:

• The candidate must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps engineer and be an individual contributor.
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration is required.
• The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of AWS Cloud.
• Significant experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) is necessary.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools such as Datadog and a strong understanding of infrastructure and application performance metrics are required.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) is a plus.
• The candidate should be welcoming and collaborative, eager to learn from and teach fellow engineers while working across diverse time zones and locations.
• The ability to thrive in a remote environment and enjoy dynamic interaction and knowledge sharing with a globally distributed team is essential.
• Comfort in an agile, fast-paced startup environment is necessary.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
