Description:

  • Dataplor's mission is to comprehensively map and understand every commercial location on the planet, providing insights on over 350 million businesses and places.
  • The company is looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer with a strong Ruby background and solid DevOps experience to enhance their internal platform for product development.
  • This role is part of the internal platform team, focusing on developer velocity, infrastructure reliability, system monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • The Lead Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Manager to design systems, lead implementation, and mentor teammates.
  • Responsibilities include designing and building internal tools, systems, and services using Ruby, React JS, and PostgreSQL.
  • The role involves leading the architecture and implementation of core platform capabilities, managing Heroku and AWS infrastructures, and ensuring the reliability and performance of shared systems.
  • The engineer will collaborate with product teams to improve developer workflows and build tools for delivery, monitoring, and debugging.
  • The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and fostering a culture of reliability and ownership.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Strong experience in building and maintaining Ruby applications in production is required.
  • Deep familiarity with PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query performance, and migrations, is essential.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and cloud-native tooling is necessary.
  • A solid understanding of DevOps principles, including automation, observability, scaling, and release management, is required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with product engineers, Engineering Managers, and leadership are important.
  • A passion for building tools that enhance the effectiveness and productivity of other engineers is desired.
