Description:
PeopleFun is seeking a Lead Game Designer to spearhead design efforts on their flagship title, Wordscapes.
This role will report to the Wordscapes business GM and focus on growing the vibrant Wordscapes player community, which has over 4 million daily active users.
The Lead Game Designer will develop and champion a consistent design vision for Wordscapes.
Responsibilities include staying updated on free-to-play game design best practices and partnering with team leads and the GM to determine business and community goals.
The designer will lead, mentor, and grow a team of two existing game designers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work.
Analyzing data, player feedback, and user insights to refine and improve game designs is essential for driving impactful business results and player satisfaction.
The role involves facilitating brainstorming sessions, documenting new features, and collaborating with User Experience to design and execute playtests of new features.
The designer will advocate for the player and optimal gameplay experience, design functional and satisfying UX flows, and guide accepted designs from concept through final in-game implementation.
Managing and tuning game economy and balance with both existing and new features is required, along with hiring, training, and mentoring junior game designers if team expansion is necessary.
Fostering an inclusive culture for idea-sharing is also a key responsibility.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of professional experience in game design, with at least 5+ years in the mobile-casual, Free to Play (F2P) genre.
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a design leadership role, including managing and mentoring junior designers, is required.
Applicants should demonstrate a professional understanding of Unity and version control.
A proven ability to design and launch successful features within a live mobile game environment is essential.
Candidates must exhibit a high degree of ownership and accountability for game feature quality and good design.
A strong motivation and passion for mobile game development are necessary.

The expected base pay range for this position is $120,000-$175,000, based on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation as part of the total package.
