Description:
The Lead Game Engineer will be responsible for all engineering-related tasks both in and outside of the game.
"Outside of the game" primarily involves backend web development, including creating a backend web API for the game and managing external databases.
The role includes conducting code reviews and general programming tasks.
The Lead Game Engineer will participate in interviews and hiring processes within their discipline.
This position requires serving as the final decision-maker in engineering-related matters.
Requirements:
Candidates should have expertise with Roblox React and Roblox Redux, noting that the game uses a slightly modified version of Redux.
Proficiency in Git and Github is required.
Familiarity with Rojo and its related tooling is essential.
Applicants should also be familiar with NodeJS and Express, as well as SQL (including ClickHouse) and MongoDB.
The ideal candidate should be performance conscious and able to meticulously write and review code.
They must be capable of handling and improving the game’s legacy codebase, which may have minimal to no documentation, no type-checking, and sometimes confusing architecture with inconsistent conventions.
The candidate should be able to receive and filter out community feedback related to their discipline.
