Description:

  • As a Linux Network Administrator, you will provide technical and operational first-line IT support to the business to ensure continuous operational effectiveness.
  • You may also provide second-line support for specific IT products, systems, and third-party applications as needed.
  • Responsibilities include configuring, monitoring, and maintaining LAN/WAN infrastructure, routers, and switches to ensure optimal network performance.
  • You will provide after-hours first-line technical support to all staff members when required.
  • You will install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat), including routine patching and upgrades.
  • Implement security best practices (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN) and ensure systems are regularly audited and patched.
  • Ensure all work is captured in the logging/ticketing system and close calls as needed.
  • Treat all company staff members as valued customers.
  • Monitor and report any system alerts to line management and meet with the team weekly to discuss problems and progress.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly, including on-call escalation support.
  • Develop scripts (Bash, Python) to automate routine administrative tasks, reducing manual workload.
  • Assist the IT Manager with daily tasks and ensure the knowledge management system is always updated with required solutions and documentation.
  • Maintain computer-related equipment registers and ensure that all naming conventions are followed.
  • Ensure strict compliance with internal processes and policies, including adherence to the Authority Matrix and MAPs guidelines.
  • Attend all required meetings and assist with any ad-hoc tasks or projects assigned by the Technology Management team.
  • Attend all assigned training, even if scheduled outside regular hours.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux system administration and network operations is required.
  • Proficiency in at least one Linux server environment (Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS) is necessary.
  • Experience with firewall administration (iptables, firewalld, or similar) is essential.
  • A solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, and VPNs is required.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and SOC best practices is necessary.
  • Conflict management skills are important for this role.
  • Planning and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Effective time management skills are essential.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to effectively communicate with foreign counterparts.
  • A proactive and positive mindset and attitude toward work are required.

Advantageous Experience/Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience with iptables, OpenVPN knowledge, Fail2ban, Wazuh, networking, and systems administration is advantageous.
